Biography

Mary Lou is currently bringing her irresistible charm and talent to the role of Mary Ferry in Nickelodeon’s hit television series for teens “Unfabulous”. As a brainy, sharp-witted “nerd”, Mary Lou demonstrates her remarkable ability not only to capture and interpret her character’s personality, but also to reflect originality and depth in her portrayal.

Mary Lou’s show business career started at age six when she entertained her local home town with a spirited rendition of “The Good Ship Lollipop” at a community fair. One performance was all it took – she knew that the stage was where she wanted to be. Over the next few years, Mary Lou went on to sing at over two dozen venues throughout Southern California, Texas and Tennessee, winning multiple local, state, regional, national and world championship titles. Today, Mary Lou is a very sought-out featured artist at charity events with her live country-western show.

At age 8, Mary Lou chose to pursue a career in television and film. She was very fortunate to have, as her first acting coach and mentor, someone who understood what it takes to become a working actor in Hollywood: determination, preparation (and perhaps a thick skin!). There have been years of weekly classes, hundreds of auditions, plenty of setbacks, too many rejections, but then, there are the joyous successes! If you’d ask her, she’d say she has enjoyed it all.

Mary Lou’s hard work and talent was rewarded in 2004 with a recurring role on Nickelodeon’s comedy, “Unfabulous” where she gets to act with other teens her age. She will be reprising her role in the upcoming 2005 season. Additionally, Mary Lou filmed a recurring role in the CBS pilot, “3 Lbs.” starring Dylan McDermott. In the 1-hour medical drama, she plays Charlotte, McDermott’s daughter. Mary Lou also filmed a guest-starring role on Disney’s hit show “Phil Of The Future”, where she will play math-nerd, Alex, in Season Two’s episode “Good Phil Hunting”. She continues to audition daily for feature films, television and voiceover.

Mary Lou attends public school and loves hanging out with her friends, chatting on the computer and playing volleyball. She loves to read, play her guitar and play with her two small dogs.
